Raindrops and Brown Papered Packages

We managed to plug through another week of language school.  By Friday we are limping into school, with only the hope of the weekend encouraging us to hang in there.  We are learning over 400 words a book.  So we are about to test over 800 words, this coming Friday.  By no means are we fluent yet in all these words.  However, could probably recognize over 75% of them.  Perhaps fluent in 50% of them.  The boys are not spinning circles around us yet, but their ability to remember the words is a refreshing reminder of their youth as Darron and I drill over and over again.

This Friday we had just made it through our first class period (8 a.m. - 10 a.m.) when the school secretary gave us the most welcome news....packages had arrived!  I still remember clearly and so distinctly 17 years ago when my friend Michelle and I received a package in the jungle of the Philippines it seemed so precious....even the M & M's that tasted like soap, we relished! Here there is no regular mail service.  Texting and cell phones are so inexpensive that Indonesia did away with regular mail service about 10 years ago.  Our packages were delivered to the school and then we had to pay a very small fee (less than $2).  No problem!
: )

To experience receiving packages with the boys was delightful.  We chose not to open them until we arrived in the privacy of our home.  When we arrived home at 1 p.m. the boxes were cut into.  The boy's kept saying, "It's like Christmas!"  "Oh wow, Taco bell sauce."  "Mom, Siskin must really love us!"  "Siskin Hospital you are bringing true healing to us!"  "Can we have some candy, now?"  To have little taste's of America is such a treat.  Tonight (Sunday) we had Macaroni and Cheese and we all said, "Wow, never knew it could taste so good!" Nathaniel and Jacob are dying to do all their crafts, now!!!!   You delighted us Siskin.  Loved all the messages all over the box.  I had no idea that you guys cared so much.  Many, many thanks.  It was and is a huge encouragement.

Warning: the postage and handling is outrageous so please don't get tempted to bless us like this unless you just feel strongly compelled.

Sitting on the school steps with our packages.

Cutting into the packages.

Pure delight!

We are in full swing of rainy season.  Saturday we decided to hike in the rain.  Not even 10 minutes
from the house our shorts were soaked.  Deciding to cut our walk short we cut through the fields and were making a big circle back to our home.  Often we were sloshing through puddles and at one point had to cross through a  place where the water was half way up my legs and powerfully surging.  Darron anchored us all.  The whole time all I could think about was all the fresh fertilizer that I knew we were trudging through.  We all took good showers when we arrived home.  Hot chocolate warmed us up.  That evening we laughed at the Beverly Hill Billies.  I'm not sure raindrops are my favorite things....well perhaps on roses they are, but for sure brown papered packages tied up with string are!  We are blessed.  May some of your favorite things come your way this week.
Perhaps raindrops on boys are a few of my favorite things.
