Hot water, Kayak, Guitar, Jr High, Radio
This week has brought one of the most exciting upgrades to our missionary life: hot water by solar. Hartly, has worked almost the entire work converting a solar water heater that had all Chinese fittings to work on our western/Indonesian water fitted home. Hartley has spent so many hours taking care of endless lists of the nitty gritty punch list details to our home. Hartly, has always helped us with such a cheerful giving spirit. When Darron is gone, if I have any problems with the car, etc. I can call Hartly and he will quickly come to help me. Back to the water: Just to turn on a tap, what luxury. The water gets hot enough to burn a person. Today over 170 degree’s (F). Amazing what the sun energy can do. It get’s so hot, it is still hot in the morning for early morning bathers. It is so liberating to not have to heat water for dishes (we have been doing this for over a year, now).
Also, the gentleman that has inspired strip kayak building, came and spent an hour helping to plane the boards for the kayak.
Andrew is taking guitar lesson’s again, from one of his favorite Indonesian people…..Sam. Sam is very talented on the guitar. Andrew can play him a song off the computer. By the time the song is finished, Sam has all the keys figured out. Next time through, he can play it smoothly.
We had 25 junior high students come to our home Saturday night for games in the dark on the runway. The junior high students have a youth group and get together once a month for fun activities. This is the group that inspired Aubrey and Andrew to attend the International school. We co-hosted it with another family. So now we have some great new Australian friends.
Today 9 pastor’s from all over Papua came and met with Darron about starting a radio ministry. I worked at the clinic today and Darron had promised all the pastor’s lunch. So I asked my house helper and her two friend’s to prepare lunch for them all. It was amazing to return home at 1:00 and find all these pastors in our home eating a tasty Indonesian meal. I simply got to say hello to everyone, sit down and eat and then go read my email while the kitchen was cleaned up. What an experience. To go to work and enjoy the satisfaction of people being entertained in our home, with zero stress. I could do that again! May the Lord bless the work that these guys did today and soon a radio ministry spread into the far reaches of Papua.
Blessings are overflowing! Yeah! Glad you are feeling better.
