Staff (Wednesday)

By the fourth day of Camp Papua everyone is feeling pretty comfortable.  No more worries about offending each other: honest feelings are shared and jokes get a bit more truthful.  So the staff (mainly myself/ sometimes Darron), start praying more!!!!  Giving more pointed direction and wondering if offering Camp Papua to all blog readers is an extremely over zealous thought.  Fortunately, the children settled down to board games and the morning passes by quickly.

The afternoon staff (same as the morning staff) were on the fence about going to the Lake House or not.  The beach loving children were loudly vocal that they wanted to return to the beach, not the “boring” lake.  So at last the “staff” agreed that the beach is where we would go.

We have known that the tires needed replacing on our illegal car, however, it was difficult to just getting around to doing it.  So it was no surprise when thirty minutes from our home (15 minutes from the beach) a motor cycle driver let us know that we had an almost flat tire.  All I can say is that I was ever so grateful that it happened while Darron was with us.  So for the next hour Darron and boys struggled with how to lower the spare tire.  Usually my husband can get us out of any pickle, but this time to no avail.  The tire was stuck.  Thankfully, Hankie from Aviation came and helped us and off we went again.

We knew we would only have a short time at the beach, because the “staff” did not want to deal with disappointed kids….we decided to keep with the original plan.

The sand and wind felt great.  The waves were inviting to all daring kids.  15 minutes ticked by of great surf time and then they were spotted again.  The reef sharks.  Staff  Darron, called all participants out of the water and we saw more evidence as time went on.  Which leads to the fact that before we go to the beach again, the staff will be doing some research on reef sharks.

We made it home with no further troubles.  A quick supper and prayer meeting.  Then bed.  At last the “staff” can rest.
